Welcome to the new school year!  I trust that you and your children had a restful and fun summer.  I look forward to another exciting school year and also look forward to meeting and working with all of you.

We would like to provide you with some valuable information to assist you in the coming school year. 

 

Regular School Hours

Grades TK-5   8:30 to 2:45PM

Wednesday Early Dismissal Day

                              Grades TK -5  8:30 to 1:30 pm

                              Please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

For our students’ safety we have a closed campus. Please drop off your child at the gate in the morning between 8 and 8:30 am.  Pick up your child at the gate @ 2:45 pm and on Wednesday @ 1:30 pm. Parents were allowed on the campus only on the first day of school.

     Students may have breakfast in the cafeteria.  Breakfast is served from 8:00 until 8:25am.  Please do not drop off your students prior to 8:00 am as we do not have supervision before 8am.  Please remember to send money for your child’s breakfast and lunch.  Students are only allowed to borrow for up to three days.  After that we can only provide milk and crackers per Nutrition Services policy.  You  can pay weekly or monthly if it is easier for you.  Breakfast is 75¢ or 30¢ for reduced price.  Lunch is $2.25 or 40¢ for reduced price.  Please make sure that you complete a lunch application.  The lunch application takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks to process. You need to pay for lunch or send a lunch until you receive a letter informing

you of your child’s eligibility.

     Good attendance is essential for all of our students.  Please make sure your child comes to school every day and is on time.  If your child is going to be absent, please call the office or send a note with your child the following day informing us that he/she was absent.  Please include the date, reason for absence and your phone number in the event we need to contact          you.  Please make doctor, dentist and other appointments after school when possible. We reward our students with perfect attendance at the end of the year.

     If your child rides the bus, please assist him/her in arriving to the bus stop on time.  Please remind him/her to go to his/her bus as soon as they are dismissed from class.  For your child’s safety, we will not release them to the parent once they are ready to board the bus.  If your child rides the bus and you wish to pick him up, please go or call the office at least one hour prior to the dismissal of classes to make the arrangements.  This will allow the staff to verify from our office records the names of the people whom you have authorized the release of your student.

                 Please DO NOT double park to drop off your child.  It is very dangerous for parents to drop off children in the middle of the

          street. (THE POLICE WILL BE TICKETING THOSE WHO VIOLATE THE TRAFFIC LAWS).  Please find a place to park in the nearby

          streets and walk to drop off or pick up your child by the front gate of the school.

Reminder the parking lot has just sufficient stalls for the staff to park.  Please do not use it to park, drop off students or to turn around.  

                Please assist us to keep your child safe by obeying traffic laws, walking to school

          whenever possible and/ or parking in a  nearby street and walking with your child to

          school.  If your child walks home, please remind him to walk with a friend, not to talk

          to strangers or get into a stranger’s car, to cross the street at a cross walk and to look

          both ways when crossing the street. Be sure  to notify the school in writing if your child

          will be walking home.

     Office hours are 8:00-3:30pm, Monday through Friday and registration is from 9:00-12:00pm, Monday thru Thursday.  The school phone number is (323) 728-1833, fax (323) 887-3096. 

     Wednesday, September 5, 2018.  Please come and meet your child’s teacher and learn about the classroom and homework expectations. Please do not bring pets to school.  The PTA will sell T-shirts, snacks and drinks during back to school night. Our fall fundraiser will take place from mid September to the beginning of October.  Please support the PTA by participating in the fall fundraiser.

     From mid Sept. to early Oct. 2018, the PTA will be doing their annual Membership Drive.  Please join the PTA and support our school.  The PTA pays for field trips and special events for our students.  We appreciate your support.

We will be collecting box tops once again this year. Please send them with your child’s teacher.  They will be collected at the end of each month starting September 28. We appreciate your continued support.
