Principal's Message

Dear Wilcox Families,

     As we begin the second semester, I would like to let you know that through our efforts to improve the safety and education of our students, it has become necessary to make changes to our after-school dismissal procedures. Wilcox Elementary School will become a closed campus for after-school dismissal. The following changes will go into effect on Monday, February 3, 2020.

School Dismissal Gates #2, #15, Cafeteria Doors, #5, #6 and #13 will open at 2:45PM, only students will be allowed to dismiss the campus. Each Grade Level will dismiss from the following gates:

  • Gates #2 = K13 and K15
  • Gate #15 = K1, K2 and 12 
  • Cafeteria Doors= 1st Grade and 2nd Grade
  • Gate #5 = 3rd Grade
  • Gate #6 = 4th and 5th Grade
  • Gate #7 = Bus Riders
  • Older siblings at Wilcox Elementary will be able to pickup younger Wilcox siblings at the younger siblings’ assigned gates and dismiss from the younger siblings’ gates. 
  • Parents will be allowed to meet with teachers after-school when appointments have been scheduled. Please schedule appointments with teacher or the main office will relay messages to the teachers.
  •  Parents that have scheduled parent conferences/meetings will be allowed to enter through the main office at dismissal. Parents must sign-in at the main office and get a visitors’ badge before entering campus.
  • Registered parent volunteers must sign-in at the main office and get a visitor’s badge before entering campus.
  • If parents need to conduct after-school program (SSI) business, please call Mr. Michael Canales (SSI Director) at (626) 374-7338 for assistance.

While I know that change can be difficult, I believe these changes will lead to improved student safety and security. I want to thank you in advance for your cooperation and support. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have.
